1. Our own cookies: none
Image Tools Online does not set first-party cookies. There are no accounts, no sessions and no server-side state to track.
We do use two items of browser local storage, which are not cookies and are never transmitted anywhere:
| Key | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
it-theme | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme | Until you clear site data |
it-consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we do not ask on every page | 180 days, then we ask again |
2. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)
If analytics is enabled on this deployment, a banner asks every visitor whether they accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics loads only if you accept, and then sets the following. If you reject, or withdraw consent later, it is not loaded and these cookies are removed.
| Cookie | Purpose | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes one browser from another so visit counts are not double-counted | 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Maintains session state for GA4 | 2 years |
We run Analytics with IP anonymisation on and advertising personalisation off. It records which tools are used and whether processing succeeded, never the content of your images.
3. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
Advertising is served by Google and its partners, which may set cookies to limit repeated ads, measure performance and detect fraud. Common examples include __gads, __gpi and IDE (from doubleclick.net), typically lasting up to 13 months (up to 24 in some regions).
Where consent is legally required, Google's consent tools govern whether personalised advertising cookies are set. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised.
4. How to control cookies
- Cookie settings. When analytics is enabled on this deployment, the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page turns Google Analytics off or on at any time.
- Browser settings. Every major browser can block or delete cookies. Look for "Cookies and site data" under Privacy settings.
- Google ad settings. Manage personalisation at myadcenter.google.com.
- Industry opt-outs. aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.com.
- Analytics opt-out. Google's browser add-on blocks GA on every site you visit.
Blocking all of these does not break the tools. Every image tool on this site works with cookies fully disabled.
5. Do Not Track
There is no agreed standard for how sites should respond to Do Not Track headers, so we do not act on them. The controls in section 4 are effective and under your direct control.
6. Changes
If we add or remove a third-party service, this page is updated along with the date at the top. See also our Privacy Policy.
